Playa del Cura (Torrevieja)
Torrevieja's central beach, right by the marina and the shopping promenade: small, golden sand and unusually calm water thanks to a rocky seabed, with the whole town — and its terraces — a step away.
Playa del Cura sits right in the middle of Torrevieja, between the fishing harbour and the pedestrian promenade that holds much of the town's shopping. It's a small beach for what August demand asks of it — fine, golden sand over a rocky seabed that breaks up the swell and keeps the water calm most of the time, especially near the breakwater.
Being this embedded in the town means every service is close at hand — showers, a lifeguard in season, ice cream shops and restaurants right on the promenade — but it's also the one that fills fastest, particularly on weekdays in high summer. It's a convenient choice if you're staying in the centre and would rather leave the car parked.
