Playa de San Juan (Alicante)

Beach & nature FREE

Alacant

Alicante city's longest stretch of sand — over six kilometres running north into El Campello: wide, well equipped and reachable by tram, this is the beach locals pick over the more famous Postiguet.

San Juan is by far Alicante's longest beach: roughly 2.9 km within the city's own boundary, continuing north without a break into Playa de Muchavista once it crosses into El Campello. It's wide, golden-sand and generally calm, and together with its endless promenade that makes it more of an everyday beach for the city than a one-off tourist stop.

The TRAM light-rail line has its own stop right by the sand, making it the easiest beach in the city if you'd rather not deal with a car; the promenade is lined with apartment blocks, beach bars and sailing or windsurfing clubs. Lifeguards and showers are posted at several points along the full stretch in high season.
