What to see in Elx

Elche is home to the Palmeral, Europe's largest palm forest with between 200,000 and 300,000 specimens. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the Palmeral bears witness to the transmission of knowledge from East to West and preserves an irrigation system inherited from the Andalusian period. The Festa del Misteri de Elx, proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage in 2001, remains a central celebration.

🚆 How to get there from Alicante
