What to see in Novelda
Novelda mixes its Islamic past with modernist buildings around the Sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena. The town, with 25,000 residents, lies inland in the comarca of Medio Vinalopó and has a history of comercio de mármol and tradición vinícola. The sanctuary, by José Salas, stands beside the Castillo de la Mola at the foot of the hill.

Vectalia bus from Alicante. Distance: 34 kilómetros. Journey of approximately 45 minutes. There are services every 4 hours between 7:05 in the morning and 8:20 at night. The bus station is in the centro municipal.
