What to see in Xixona
Jijona is the world capital of turrón, the Christmas sweet made here for centuries from local almonds. The municipality, situated 30 kilometres from Alicante, combines traditional production of this confection with ice-cream manufacturing, which gained prominence when the residual industry declined in the nineteen seventies. It has a medieval old town and the Moorish-origin Torre Grossa.

Autobús Vectalia desde Alicante. The trip takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Buses run every four hours, with the first departure at 6:30 a.m. The distance is about 30 kilometres.
