What to see in Orihuela

Orihuela was designated a Conjunto Histórico Artístico in 1969 for its exceptional cultural heritage. The Catedral del Salvador y Santa María is a jewel of Valencian Gothic architecture built atop an old mezquita. The Escuela Episcopal de Santo Domingo, a former 16th‑century Dominican convent, houses university history. The Palmeral de San Antón, the second‑largest palm grove of palmeras in Europe after Elche, preserves the canales de riego islámicos.

🚆 How to get there from Alicante

Renfe Cercanías and regional trains take about 50 minutes to get from Alicante to Orihuela. ALSA buses cover the 50 kilometres in 1 hour 45 minutes, leaving from the Alicante bus station (estación de autobuses).
